New Year’s Eve Show has always been the biggest battleground of Chinese TV broadcasters every year. Hunan TV, Jiangsu TV, Beijing TV, Dragon TV, ZhejiangTV, SichuanTV and CCTV, they all compete with their own show at the exact same time in the last hours of 2019.

This insane competition among TV channels for the New Year’s Eve Show can only happen in China and nowhere else. In fact, the complete entertainment industry and the biggest stars of the country are mobilized for this night.

Jiangsu TV usually has also a very strong lineup. Cai Xu Kun is the real audience magnet here. He won‘t disappoint the audience this year for sure.

Dragon TV (Live)

Dragon TV surprises us this year with two very high explosive stars this year: Xiao Zhan and Zhu Yi Long. As you can see in my previous blog, this is how the audience reacts to them. According to Baidu, they are ranked top 1 and 3 in the most searched male star. With these two megastars, the quote for Dragon TV this year will probably skyrocket.

Sichuan TV (Pre-recorded)

To be strict, this one does not count as a real New Year’s Eve Show because it is pre-recorded on the 22nd of December and will be broadcasted on the 1st of January. Hence, this show does not directly compete with other shows. It is actually a clever way to get more quotes when the other channels are not competing for this time slot.

It is funny how Liu Yu Ning is in both Hunan and Sichuan TV’s show. Li Yu Chun is also in CCTV’s show.

Beijing TV (Live)

Beijing TV complete Star Lineup:

Westlife, Chen Linong, Zhang Shaohan, Fan Chengcheng, Tengger, Zhu Zhengting

Beijing TV is the only broadcaster that introduces the star in form of videos. The key highlight here is Westlife as foreign support. I am not sure if they will be recognized by the Chinese audience though.

CCTV (Pre-recorded)

CCTV complete Star Lineup:

Li Yuchun, Cai Yilin, Xiao Zhan, Angelababy, Zhang Ruoyun, Guan Xiaotong, Xu Weizhou, Song Zuer, Ouyang Nana

CCTV’s lineup is not that bad if you think that they have another New Years Show coming up in one month: The Chinese New Year Show on January 2020. Usually, they also don‘t compete with other satellite channels on the western New Year’s Eve Show. You can say that CCTV is only showing half of its potential now.

Hunan TV

Hunan TV starts at 19:30 on 2019.12.31 live from Haikou Wu Yuan He Arena. Hua Chen Yu did his concert one month ago in the same stadium. He must feel cool when coming back as the main lineup in the New Year Show. It is also the only channel that uses an outdoor arena while all the others choose an indoor venue. The venue is huge. In fact, it is so big that Hunan TV decides to make an advertisement of out it.

Jiangsu TV starts at 19:30 on 2019.12.31 live from Macao Cotai Strip Cotai Arena. Many stars invited for Jiangsu New Year’s Show are frequent guests. Deng Ziqi, Xuan Zhi Qian, Pan Weibo, and Sun Yanzi all have been performed here in the past more than once.

Dragon TV starts at 19:30 on 2019.12.31 live from Shanghai Mercedes Benz Arena. It is one of the best arenas in China which also hosted the Double Eleven Show 2019 this year.

CCTV

CCTV pre-records the show. It will be aired on 2019.12.31 at 20:20. Unfortunately, you can not visit the show live on-site.
